The Southwest 9-Ball Challenge once again provided a weekend of fun and
excitement for APA members in this part of the country.
One
hundred five teams (ten from our area) battled it out over two days for a total purse of
more than $11,000!
Thursday evening was relatively quiet - 32 tables hosting practice and mini tournaments, players and teams straggling in over the course of the evening. By Friday morning, though, there was a definite buzz in the air. We kept the tables full with the main event for eight hours, then with mini's for another six!
The spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship was evident throughout the weekend. That's really the whole idea behind the Southwest Challenge - a fun-filled weekend of pool, making new friends, and reuniting with friends made in previous years.
The South Coast teams made a great showing in the event. Two teams finished seventeenth - South Coast #2 (Kerri Frasca, Malisa Mapu, and Lori Perry) and South Coast #4 (Ed Poplet, Jenn Munowitch, and Shannon Plues). We had two other teams finish thirty-third.

Next year's tournament will likely be bigger, and we are hoping to add a surprise or two to it!
