Posted - 02/15/2010 : 09:02:18 AM It finally happened... I'm a 7! I've got some mixed emotions right now. A piece of me is nervous about the up coming regionals, but then there is the other side that just can't wait to play that extra match. I am looking forward to the real challenge of maintaining this skill level. Thank you Phil & Taz for giving us such a great opportunity to compete against other players & have a blast doing it. I have to say that all my years in the APA have been an experience that I will never forget. I have met so many interesting people from all over the state & country. Can't wait to get back to Vegas too. Thanks again for everything!!!

Posted - 03/08/2010 : 2:41:45 PM THANK YOU THORSTEN , Funny you should mention your SL2 status. i was speaking with NAT saturday about that very same subject. Only it took my Very first 2 matches (both loses) to go down to SL2. i came from our local Foothill League were Defensive shooting was not aloud in anyway shape or form. it was otherwise known as Chicken S__t pool. so naturally it took me awhile to adjust. i can only say now that i love the APA and the opportunites that it provides and to all the Great Players in the APA , i think i am Ready for ya ! (*-*) lol
p.s. NAT it was really a privellage to meet and talk you this weekend , i hope we get a chance to shoot and hang out again sometime. |

Posted - 03/07/2010 : 12:38:35 PM However long it took you, Tony, doesn't matter. Congrats on your accomplishment. Took me ages to get to 7. And years ago when I started, I lost my first match and went straight to a 2, something my friends and teammates are quick to remind me of. :)
Nat has a natural talent for this game. I played some friendly games with him at a party at our mutual buddy Travis' house either before or right when he joined the league. I had already been in the league for a few years at that point but within weeks he was ready to whup my butt. And he did the first time we played... as much as a hill hill match can amount to a butt kicking :)
Derrick, sorry i forgot to tell you about the match. You'll certainly be invited to the next one. We are, after all, tied 1 1 at this point.

Posted - 03/03/2010 : 09:19:18 AM Nat decided to play serious this last year.....He will always maintain a SL 6 just cause he has been playing since 2 ft tall..... But as far as APA goes he has made a conscious effort this last 10-12 months. Scary what he is capable of when he wanted to be a 7.
To elevate his play he was a Member of 4 different Leagues to find the level of competition
VALLEY T.O. Camarillo Ojai
Give him mad respect. He took his game out there and found the other great shooters, and didn't wait for them to come to him.
GL Natter this weekend in the Finals against me at regionals.....

Posted - 03/02/2010 : 4:35:53 PM Well Nat i have to agree with your post. i finally made it SL 7 and i feel the same way you do. But given the fact that it has taken me 10 years to get here i will embrace it and take it as far as i can ! i did have the opportunity to play you at a recent MVP tourney and we were both 6's. So if i may ask , how long did it take you to get to SL7 ? |

Posted - 02/26/2010 : 8:04:34 PM So Mr. Hunnicutt and I have now played two epic matches... and after those two, we are all square at 9 frames apiece. And along the way, I have acquired a new favorite drink. Cactus Cooler. Damn you, Nathaniel...
You missed a good one Derrick. :)

Posted - 02/19/2010 : 11:13:57 PM Hey Nat and D!!! Look!!! Me too!!! What are the odds, Nathaniel? You and me, within the span of a week, both realize our goals. I say we celebrate with beer before we beat the heck out of each other on the tables. :)

Posted - 02/16/2010 : 2:24:46 PM Congrats on your Achievement.
As a 2, I actually crave facing 7's in 8-Ball.
In 9 Ball, it depends on how strong a 7 you are. I've seen some 7's who can't run it in 9 ball so it opens the table up for me to "get lucky". |
