At the captain's meeting in the Valley, I said I would dig out that article I wrote on preventing late nights. It is now up on the site, you can find a link in the bottom right-hand corner of the home page.

Thousand Oaks Monday and Tuesday 8-ball start at 7:00pm and Ojai starts at 6:30pm. I have already spoken to several players in Camarillo about starting earlier and they all thought it was a good idea. I think it would be easy to change all of the Thousand Oaks divisions to 7:00pm and then maybe expand this to the rest of the league.

If you feel a team is not paying attention to the guidlines, you should politely bring it to their attention. If they make no effort to move things along, then you should bring it to our attention and we will politely bring it to their attention. If they continue to draw things out, you should bring it to our attention again and we will take a more direct, less polite approach with them. Eventually they will either speed up or be penalized.

Calcowboy is correct. The captains that don't follow these late night rules are the ones that usually never show up at the captains' meetings.

Thanks for the post Phil. I agree that a copy in the envelope would be a good idea, to reinforce the "time limits". I am wondering what we do with those teams who never seem to follow or care that they are taking as long as they do, even when told of the times. Do we fill out "sportsmanship forms". How do we bring these situations to your attention so improvements can be ensured.
