Posted - 02/18/2009 : 2:06:03 PM I talked to Kristie Pruitt Buck last night and was told that her dad Jim was in the Hospital.(Jim use to live here in TO and moved back to Georgia a couple of years ago as did Kristie.) He went in for surgery earlier this week and when they opened him up they found cancer all over in his lower abdomen area. It was so bad they just closed him up. Kristie said they have taken him off life support and he is still holding his own but it is not expected to last very long. She requested that I give out her phone number (1-805-298-6684),yes 805, she kept her old number,to the APA Family who might have known and played pool with Jim. This will be a real test for them all since her mom just passed in December of 08. Please keep them in your thoughts as this is something that we will all face sometime in our life. Casey Jones

Posted - 04/07/2009 : 09:57:12 AM Great day in Atlanta! The Buckster is gettin' out of the hospital today and they are moving him into a rehab facility to help him gain some strength back. He expects to be in the rehab facility for about a week and then homebound!
He doesn't have much of an apettite so they are going to help him with that too but that's not his biggest concern. His biggest concern is standing up when he is sitting down (too low). He needs some assistance right now but he's anxious to overcome this so he can get himself his drink! He sounds great and is happy with his progress. Awesome stuff! |

Posted - 03/31/2009 : 2:46:26 PM Just talked to the Buck Man, he sounds great. He should be out of ICU tonight or tomorrow and once he is up and around they will send him to a rehabilitation facility for about a week to get his strength back and then home! He is very excited and can't wait to get out of there. Pat. |

Posted - 03/27/2009 : 09:34:04 AM I just spoke with Kristie and Jim had the surgery on Wednesday and removed the hematoma. In doing so, they had to backtrack a litle and remove some of the work they had already completed and subsequently he had to go back on the ventilator (low settings) and into ICU. Jim is in surgery right now (again) primarily for exploratory reasons. He will be in ICU and on the ventilator for the next few days so keep those thoughts and prayers coming! Kristie said she would try to give me another update tonight after she talks to the doctors and I will try to fill everybody in as soon as I can. |

Posted - 03/24/2009 : 3:13:07 PM I spoke with Kristy earlier and she stated that Jim had to go in for a 1 to 1-1/2 hour surgery today at 5:00pm (Georgia time) to have a hemotoma removed from his stomach. I don't believe it to be anymore serious than his other surgeries but keep those thoughts and prayers coming. |

Posted - 03/23/2009 : 2:06:19 PM I spoke with Jim last week and he is coming along really well. He is looking forward to getting out of the hospital this week and into rehab for a week or two for some physical therapy to help gain some strength back. He has had some previous high hopes of getting out of the hospital only to be let down with another unscheduled surgery so keep your fingers crossed for him. I expect to talk to him again in the next day or so and I'll try to give you some more information.
