Hi All,

I was wondering how many people would be interested in attending a pool clinic hosted by myself and another professional player. The clinic would most likely be 4-6 hours long, and would cover a number of different subjects such as stroke fundamentals, breaking, different aiming systems and playing safeties. There would also be time for Q&A...and then some time to play with the pros and maybe have a little tournament or something.

The clinic would be open to probably 10-15 people in order to keep it small so that everyone has some one-on-one instruction with a pro.

It is something that I have been considering, however I want to gauge interest before starting to organize it.

Thanks!

Melissa

Oops...sorry about that Taz. Obviously the weekend of the 7th will not work, so I will consult with Taz and pick another workable, non-conflicting date :)

capoolclinic@gmail.com

This is the address that I can be reached at regarding interest in the clinic. (I edited it in an earlier post...because the hyperlink had included punctuation that it wasn't supposed to...so it wasn't a valid email address if you clicked on it.)

Thanks!

Everyone...thanks for your interest.

This idea came about because I have been asked several times if I am available to give lessons. Over the past few years, I stopped giving lessons because of my schedule...but I wanted to be able to offer something to all the Southcoast APA players because you have welcomed me so warmly into the Southcoast APA family. And so...because I don't have the time to do individual lessons...I thought a clinic, with another professional player teaching alongside me, would be a terrific alternative solution.

Dave Hemmah (aka Big Wave Dave)will be my partner in teaching and coordinating the clinic. He is a longtime player on the men's circuit, was the house pro for world famous Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower...and is widely acknowledged as one of the top players in our state. I have personally taken lessons from him and worked with him...so I can attest to his wealth of knowledge and teaching skills.
Plus...he is just a cool dude with a great sense of humor and he likes to have fun :)

We would like to keep the clinic limited to 10 people. (If we get a good response and more are interested, we could possibly set up a second date for another clinic.) Smaller classes = better personalized instruction for each participant. The base clinic will last 4 hours...with some time afterwards for some fun stuff, like Challenge the Pro, or maybe some doubles with Dave and I available as partners.

Cost will be $200 per person...and that is a flat rate for the entire 4 hour clinic. (Dave normally charges $100/hr for private lessons, and my hourly lesson rate was $50/hr...so this is quite a discounted rate for both of us. Dave is a great guy...and he agreed to teach at the lesser rate because he loves the idea and really wanted to work with me to create a clinic where players could pick up a lot of knowledge and personal instruction...and still have it be affordable. Other pros offer similar classes...but charge upwards of $500 per class.)

I am looking at doing this clinic on either Saturday, Oct 24th or Saturday, Nov 7th.

If you are interested, please email me at CApoolclinic@gmail.com And let me know which day works better for you.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to read this. I will be happy to send you more info or answer any questions you have...just email me.

All my best,

Melissa

All - thank you for your replies.

I will keep you posted once I put together all the information. I need to consult with the other pro for an open weekend...and then I will post the cost and a more detailed schedule/curriculum.

All the best!
