Anyone ever heard of this? I can see this actually happening and maybe by one of my team mates....

Last nite a guy said that he had played in an APA tournament, and his opponent called and made the 8 ball.....however, he mistakenly used the one as the cueball. Here's where it gets odd....the TD said the 8 gets respotted, no loss of game since
it was cueball foul only.....the league operator verified this, and said it was the same at the nationals.
It don't sound right....seems like it should be more then just a foul, anytime you use anything but the cueball to move balls?

True, it doesn't say which player took the next shot...

It could be that the story was related incorrectly rather than that the LO got it wrong. The tournament director might have said the 8 gets "replaced" not "respotted" or "spotted" and that it was not loss of game because it wasn't a cueball foul while pocketing the 8. Just a thought.

Actually, it gets even stranger. If the cue ball wasn't touched by any of the other balls during the shot, all balls are replaced and the same player shoots again. If the cue ball was touched, I believe it would be loss of game since the 8-Ball was pocketed and a foul was committed. Either way, I think the LO mentioned in the article got it wrong.
