I was told by an opposing captain something I have never heard of before.
When a player has ball in hand and is touching the cue ball, if that player than touches another ball on the table at the same time it is a foul. I know if the cue ball touches another ball it is a foul, but I never heard that if you touch the cue ball and an object ball simultanously it is a foul. Has anybody heard of such a thing? |

I think that may be overstating the rule a bit.
I agree with you, (that is not what the rule says) and I don't believe that was the intent of the rule. Some folks like to stretch the facts....sort of like that fish story where the fish gets bigger with each telling of the story.

I just got done reading that Tom.
I did not know your hand touching a ball would constitute a foul. The person I heard this from said any part of your body, shirt, hair, or whatever comes in contact with an object ball while you are touching the cue ball it is a foul. I did not see that anywhere in the team manual.

Yep, that is the rule.
When you have ball in hand, your hand and the ball are the same thing.
If you touch an object ball with the hand in which you hold the cue ball it is a foul.
Quoted from page 51 of the team manual:
"9-i: Exercise caution when picking up or placing the cue ball in a ball-in-hand
situation. The cue ball is always alive. If the cue ball, or the hand
holding ormoving it, touches another ball it is a cue ball foul and your
opponent has ball-in-hand. Be especially careful when you are picking up
or placing the cue ball in a tight spot."
