I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a good store in the T.O. area (or Moorpark/Simi/The Valley)? I was hoping to find a place with a fairly large selection (more than Quintessentials).

Thanks!

Hot Shot Billiards, Gibbi Tkatch...
He also does the tables for the tournaments and all that... he sells cues and can get you custom cues...

Yeah, I was hoping to avoid going to interweb route for supplies. I just moved back here from Minnesota, and aside from the pool halls being MUCH bigger (rents cheaper, so places with sixty or eighty tables are pretty common), I found a supply store I really liked. If it weren't for that, I might have bought a Mcdermott, which I found to be really harsh feeling, instead of my Pechauer, which feels much smoother to me (thats just my personal opinion, not trying to start a debate about what cue is better!). On the internet, I'd have to go with what's prettiest rather than what feels good. Plus, I do like to shop local, when I can. I will check out the Billiards and Barstools place next time Im down that way, though.

www.poolanddarts.com* (aka Mueller catalog*, 10% off for APA members), www.ozonebilliards.com, www.pooldawg.com, etc. Online is the only way to go, if you are fairly certain what you are after. You cannot beat the prices. I have ordered numerous sticks for people. Most recently, a McDermott cue,(c265-19* retail 229.00, ordered for 170.00. It is a very nice cue. I say all of this, because we dont have a place near us with a large inventory. You may be looking for something more expensive, and they are there too. You can also take a chance to win one at APA events like the South Coast Championships, by purchasing raffle tickets. Some people get lucky and win one....

I used to go to Billiards and Barstools in Hawthorne/Lawndale area (on Hawthorne Blvd at Manhattan Beach Blvd). The guy that I dealt with has since sold his share of the business to his partner. I still drop by when I have business in the South Bay. They mainly sell McDermott, Pechauer, Cuetec, and a few high end sticks.
