A huge THANK YOU to Division Reps Teri Plannette and Harley Heft along with Jolene Cobb, Joey and Cassie Brooker who staffed the event and kept things running smoothly. Couldn't have done it without you!

Also, to Melissa "The Dragon Lady" Herndon who once again graciously donated her time (a couple of hourse turned out to be 8!), not only hanging out with the players and taking on challenge matches throughout the day, but also added WPBA merchandise to the door prizes and what can only be described as the "grand prize" to the main raffle by donating a 2-hour team lesson. THANKS MEL!!!

Wow, what a day! We had an incredible turnout for the tournament - 96 players in all, WAAAAAAY more than any previous captain / co-captain tournament!

Besides the "Millionaire" themed tournament, we also did a number of things to raise money for a young Leukemia patient named Zoe. Between the donations at registration, other donations, raffles, and challenge matches, we managed to raise $1,060 for Zoe. That's actually $2,120 with the matching funds from a corporate sponsor!

Congratulations to Daryl Frame, Kyle Greule, and Joel Quilantang, who decided to call it a night at 2:15 AM when they reached the semi-final level of the tournament. Each walked away with $150.

Congratulations also to the eight players who earned their "I beat the League Operator" patches yesterday. You earned them, but don't expect it to be so easy next time!

Finally, many thanks to the Q-Club, our host for the event. We commandeered their tables for the entire day. Had the players decided to continue at 2:15, the Q-Club was willing to let us stay and play it out. Many thanks again to our volunteers and especially to WPBA professional Melissa Herndon. Everyone did their part to make the day a success.

How do we top this? Well, we have a year to think about it, but we're already working on ways to reduce the wait time between matches (LOTTA wait time with 96 players and only 11 tables, thanks everyone for your patience) and the late finish. I'm sure we'll also come up with another creative twist or two for next year!

Phil
