Posted - 08/18/2006 : 4:20:28 PM Hey kids! We're starting to plan the 5th annual Lamplighter Classic. Last year half the proceeds went to Shane Tanita. We are looking for a special need person or a suggestion for a charity. I'd like to keep it local (Ventura County) if we can. Any suggestions?
The date of the tournament has not been set, but it will be in October. Hope you all can make it! OHHHH and you don't have to be an APA member to play!

Posted - 11/09/2006 : 07:59:45 AM Hey Everyone! I got 6 phone calls from people in the Oxnard area that want to play in the tournament. Camarillo, are you going to let Oxnard players show you up? Get your entries in NOW! Ojai are you coming? Thousand Oaks?? Ventura?
Anyone who signs up before the tournament, let say by Friday night, will get an extra raffle ticket. Remember, you don't have to be an APA member to play in this tournament. Bring your non-APA friends and family. (must be 21)
See you all Saturday at 9am. I'm so excited!

Posted - 10/27/2006 : 09:10:42 AM Hey all you Ventura County Players! You will be getting a flyer for the Lamplighter Classic tournament, in your envelopes this next week. Copies can be made from that flyer if more people want to sign up. Or people can email me at thelamp@adelphia.net for more flyers. There is a huge raffle we are doing, details are in your envelope. If we get more than the 32 max, I would like to try to do a smaller tournament on Sunday. Get your signup in quick! Those of you who are not in the Ventura County area and would like to play, please email me and I will email back a flyer for you.
Hope to see you all there!

Posted - 10/10/2006 : 10:34:45 AM Great! I need feedback on the Veteran's Day weekend. Do we really think people will show on that Friday? Will we get less people because some still have to work. Please everyone respond so I can figure how many people we will have. Then I can determine if we will have a BBQ also.
Thanks everyone!
Good job Wes!

Posted - 10/06/2006 : 3:16:37 PM Oh my GOD, thank you so much Nancy and Torsten. Michelle is going to be so happy and we are very grateful!
Nancy - I think Veteran's Day weekend would be great, hopefully we don't lose anyone due to vacations. Maybe we could start on Friday night and carry it through to Sat. til we are done. I will come in and leave you my contact numbers and e-mail so I can stay involved and help you in any way possible. Thanx again.
Torsten - I like Nancy's idea of December. I think she is right, if the tournaments are too close, we will most likely lose players. What is the best way for me to contact you? Do you have e-mail?
Thanx again you two, I can't wait to tell her!

Posted - 10/06/2006 : 11:59:56 AM Maybe Moorpark Billiards could do a tournament in December. I think these dates are too close. With the tournament we will have a BBQ and raffles. If we don't get the crowd we need to put this on because it was held somewhere else the week before, hardly worth us doing it. Thanks for checking with them though!

Posted - 10/06/2006 : 11:26:50 AM Hey, Wes and Nancy. I spoke with the management at Moorpark Billiards and they would be happy to be site of a benefit tournament for Wes's friend. We tentatively mentioned Saturday, November 4th.... but if that's gonna be too close to the Lamplighter Classic Tournament, the date is negotiable. Lemme know what you guys think.

Posted - 10/06/2006 : 08:41:54 AM Ok! It's on! Let's get this tournament rolling! Let's help Michelle and her family get through this really tough time. What Wes didn't mention is that Michelle has two small children, the youngest being only 8 months old. It's time folks! We gotta help out.
November 10 is Veterans Day, it's a Friday. Can we start on Friday and continue through Saturday, then we have Sunday free for our families??? Or we can have the tournament all day Saturday and if needed we could finish on Sunday. Tell me what you all think.
Taz/Phil, are these dates good for you two?

Posted - 10/04/2006 : 11:22:48 AM Hey Nancy, I wanted to give you the latest update on my nominee.
Cancer is sometimes so hard to understand. Michelle has breast cancer that has come back for the 3rd time. The cancer she has is breast cancer, which has now spread to her lymph nodes. It is considered metastic in that it's moved from the breast tissue. The goal now is to keep it from going anywhere else (i.e., a major organ). During this last bout, she underwent surgery to remove the nodes found to be cancerous and received chemotherapy. As of last week, Michelle was told that she has more new nodes involved, and that the chemo did not work! Her cancer is extremely aggressive right now. She will now be taking a pill form of chemo called Xeloda. Currently, this medication is not covered by her insurance. Yesterday, she had to pay over $1500.00 dollars for 84 pills, which is only 3 weeks worth. She will be taking 3 pills in the morning and 3 in the evening. As of today, there is no end date to this treatment. Hopefully the insurance will cover this expense and not leave it with her. This is the reason we walk the Relay for Life and why we need a cure now and not tomorrow.
If anyone has any suggestions on where we might find additional help for Michelle, please, please let me know. And thanx again for all you help, support and prayers.

Posted - 09/29/2006 : 4:52:34 PM Torsten - I don't know when she is having the tournament, however, it's at the Lamp on Venture Blvd. in Camarillo just up the street on the left from where we have the Manager's meeting. Now let's nominate Michelle :-) |
