A discussion regarding this subject came about this week during play. It won't be the first time that I've been wrong and won't be the last, but I've been playing under certain assumptions for many a year and when looking at the Rules Manual we couldn't find a clear cut answer so I'm asking Phil and Taz for a clarification. I know that many people are playing with the same assumptions, correct or not.

I have always been under the assumption that:

1) when a player calls for a time-out, the Captain or Coach may refuse it. True or False?

2) when a Captain or Coach or anyone on the shooters team calls a time-out, it MUST be taken. A player (shooter) can't refuse a called time-out. (could not find anything addressing this). True or False?

During the discussion we all agreed that a concensus could be made between the Coach/Captain and other team members (away from the player and the table. only one person could coach at the table).

Maybe we missed it in the Manual, but we could not find specific answers to these assumptions, so if you could just point me/us to the right location we would be grateful, or give us the right way to handle these situations.

Thanks.

For those who don't know....South Coast APA's Local Bylaws are included in every Team Captain folder (so all captains should have one) and are also posted on this site under Docs and Forms and can easily be printed.

Phil.. your answer "look in the bylaws".. was a VERY GOOD answer to a question that I am sure many other people might have, but myself being one who does not have a copy of the bylaws , could you do a follow up and tell us how to get a copy .
Thanks
