I was just viewing some upcoming 8 ball matches , and saw how many losses each player has and what not....And was wondering, would it be too much to ask to have innings played, and how many games were scored per match listed in "last match" kind of fashion? Reason being is if I could see how someones game has been in innings per win, I could better calculate the best match up for that person. Just a thought, and wondered if anyones ever brought this up. It could be helpful in 9 ball too. It would increase competitive play for sure I feel. I do understand there is already alot of time put in updating all the information as it is, but still, had to ask. Maybe a copy of your upcoming opponents last weeks scoresheet in the envelope?? I dont know... That too much?? Thanks for reading!!!

Sure, and we'll throw in a memory stick with video of each player's last match too.

You would think that ideas for league play would be welcome. Whatever...

Your request is asking the LO (Phil) to do a ton more work. Its like asking someone to do the work of 10 people and not pay them any extra. So when he responded with a little bit of sarcasm to your request. You should realize that you are not the only one playing in the league. If you would help them for free I am sure he would consider it as an option that might be attainable. But you would probably have to do it yourself. That and the fact that the national office might change the stats posted on this site. Some of the leagues don't post nearly as much info as Phil. So instead of being righteous and taking offense to his reaction. Remember you are asking him to work late and he has a lot on his plate already. If you really want the info you could keep 2 score sheets for each match and take 1 home for research purposes.
I got your back Phil. Although I do like the idea Jeff posted.

First, I don't bet on sports. Too much human element. If I had though, I would have bet on the Saints, despite all the stats that said otherwise.
I'm just messin' with you Jeff, because I know you can take it.
The stuff you mention, I don't even know if I could pull it out of our software. If I could, it wouldn't be a ton of extra work, just a few hours ONE TIME. The stats on the website are all done by software.
You won't be seeing those stats on the website because they are not the kind of stats we want everyone to have. You might want them for purposes of strategy, but there would be plenty of people trying to use them to "figure out" the handicap formula. Not that they could, there's a lot more to it, but simply thinking they can will lead to them trying to manipulate the outcome. That's bad for the league, whether they are successful or not. It's also the reason for the last two sentences on page 53 of the Team Manual.
Here's an example of what I mean. Several years ago, I walked into a location to pick up envelopes, and one of our team captains was sitting at the bar. He approached me and asked why one of his players went up. His actual words were "According to my calculations she shouldn't have gone up." I told him "Well, you must have missed a sign or something in your calculations, because according to mine, she did." He thought he had it figured out, and when you think that, even if you're wrong, you are tempted to try to "work the system".

Keith, most times it takes work to improve something, the question is, would this idea improve the league? And as Phil stated, there is a negative side to the request. I didnt look at it from that side. Only the LO would really know if something would work or not. As I stated before, I was aware there would be more work. Phil I appreciate the response. Thank You.

There may be a couple of things that could be cool that don't encourage people to try and figure out the handicapping algorithm. Like... a last ten matches stat or something, so you can see who is on a hot streak and otherwise... or if you're lucky enough to be on such a streak, you can show off to your friends.
Outta curiosity, how possible is it to get a new picture uploaded to your player profile? I look like the main character of Flowers for Algernon in mine. :P
I think the worst time to have a heart attack would be during a game of charades... or during a game of fake heart attack. |

The photos on the player pages come from the ones I take at our events. Unfortunately, the software that finds the photo and puts it on your page doesn't necessarily find the most recent one, so even if I put another one up, it may still display the old one.
Before anyone asks, I will not post photos that you send to me. It's bad enough to go through the 80 or 90 photos from an MVP or Regional tournament, I don't want to be in the business of approving/disapproving and posting photos submitted by a thousand players. So, I just say no whenever it comes up.
