For some time now, we have been telling everyone about the new league software we're getting, and how the website will change when that happens. Beginning Summer Session, we will be running on the new software, so the time is upon us.

I'm posting this note because there are a lot of photos in the photo album that will not be carried over to the new website. If anyone wants copies of these photos, you will need to go through the photo album and download the ones you want. Otherwise, when we switch to the new website they will be lost forever.

Hi Phil,

Is this website APA provided or is it paid for and built by you? I ask because the league up here does not have one and wonder why.

These are the opinons of this poster and are not necessarily shared by me or anyone else.

The current site is my own creation. We pay a hosting company for the web space, but the site itself resides on a computer in my office and is simply copied to the server whenever I update it.

The new site is provided by APA, but I will still be doing all of the maintenance. It's up to each operator to maintain the site for their area, which is why some areas don't have one at all. Many areas have a scaled-down website, which is ok too - whatever the operator can provide.

Hi Phil. Do you know what features we may be losing as a result of this change? I know I speak for a lot of the players I know who enjoy being able to do things like ask rules questions in a message board, look up career statistics and so forth. Hope we can still do that stuff!

I think the worst time to have a heart attack would be during a game of charades... or during a game of fake heart attack.

The new site will eventually have nearly all the functionality of the current site. I'm just beginning to set it up, so it may take some time to get everything, but it will eventually be there. Some stuff, like the calendar, will be much better than what we have now. There will be a message board and photo gallery as well.

You may have to adjust a little to the stats. You will only be able to see individual stats for yourself and team stats for the team(s) you play on, as well as division standings and mvp lists for the divisions in which you play.

You will have to log in to see the stats, so everyone should be going to members.poolplayers.com to claim their logins.

Well that sux. I like to be able to see how my friends are doing in their divisions. I will miss that portion.

I would like to formally be the first one to complain about the new site. That being said, i was wondering if you have a choice in this matter. After all, I also like to look at my friends stats. I say, If it aint broke dont fix it! Whats next, tax cuts for high skill level players?

think before shooting, then shoot someone thinking.

That would be good for you, since you would now qualify.

We don't get to decide what you can see and what you can't see. APA decides that, and they consider the whole of APA when making their decisions. We don't necessarily agree with them, but they get to make the call. They are, after all, the franchisor.

Here's what you should do if you are unhappy. First, don't jump the gun based on what I've told you. Wait until Summer Session and see what you get. If you are dissatisfied with that, feel free to contact the national office directly to provide your feedback.

By the way, the plans for this website have been put on hold temporarily. The stats will still be changing when we start Summer Session, but I'm holding off conversion of the rest of the site until after we've settled in with the new software. The stats area will just be replaced with a link to members.poolplayers.com.

Phil

PS - John, please unsubscribe from whichever forum you have subscribed. The email address you used to register is no longer good, and I keep getting "undeliverable" messages.

I have registered to the new site. It was not a peice of cake either. If you have not put your request in for a name and password....remember this! You are now competing with the national arena not just the players in South Coast. It took me well over 40 minutes of getting rejected due to already taken or not valid. Maybe it is just me, but if you want to register.....do it now.

I got the same message ..... I changed my email address from the one I use for almost all funtions to an AOL address that I still have and it worked.

However when I try to sign in after receiving the confirmation email, I get a message "Invalid Signin Attempt"

what's going on ????

Never mind .... figured it out ... they ask you for a userid and screen name or something like that ... got it straightened out and got logged in ... can get to the message board from the National Site but it's really unfortunate that you can't see all the stats that we currently have access to .... really unfortunate

My biggest issue is "WHO'S USING MY REGULAR EMAIL ADDRESS ON THE NATIONAL WEBSITE" ????

Movistar & Calcwby4u, You will both need to direct your questions to the National Office. This is not something we can help you with.
