To our fellow APA Members, it is with heavy heart that I have to tell you that George Lyden passed this morning. His son Daryl call me to ask that I put the word out about his father since he knew that George and I were good friends. He was admitted to Los Robles last night and died this morning of congestive heart failure. George was a fellow fisherman who I spent many hours with out on my boat as we looked for anything that swam except for the darn sand dabs. We were team mates on two pool teams and he played on a third. George loved life and his family dearly, both near and extended. Tuesday night when we were in the play offs, George told me that " it is the quality of life not the length that makes the difference" , he was out for the quality. Further information will be posted when available.

Farewell George! I agree with your thinking, it is the quality of life more than the length and I know Carol felt that way. She and I talked about that very thing a lot during her last few years. George was one of those rare people that liked everybody and everybody liked him too. He will be missed!

George was a special person who will be missed dearly. I'm thankful that I had the pleasure of playing both with him and against him. I'm also thankful he was able to stick around for a few more years after his stroke but it was still too soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to my good friend Daryl and his family in this tough time.

This is the 3rd post I have written and it kept getting kicked out. I'm a little frustrated, but here we go again.
George and I were soul mates for many years. First, his son Darrel was on my pool team, and then George joined. We have been best friends since then. We did everything together. Golfed, played pool, bowled (once), played Texas Holdem for years at my house and most recently at the Moose Lodge every Saturday.
For years we used to watch movies at my house. We dined and drank together often. He was definitely my best friend. I will miss those times,.
Love you George

George was a ray of sunshine I respected immensley. I never heard an unkind word and always felt better being in his company. I will miss him and hope to honor his attitudes in my own life. Thank you for the times I was able to connect to you. My heart to you Darryl and your family. Your dad made an impact on all of us and was one of the most basic, kindest men I ever knew. Rest in peace.

George was a friend of mine as well as many others in the APA. He would always greet you with a smile and a firm hand shake. I would raze him every chance I could and he would always take it with a grain of salt. He was a great man and will be very sorely missed. Rest is Peace "Old Man"
