We are making a change to the Local Bylaws that I think everyone will like. In the past, byes in the Regionals have always been luck of the draw. Not any more. Any team that qualifies more than once by finishing first in their division or winning the playoffs will have first crack at a bye in the Regional. If there are more eligible teams than there are byes, a special draw for the byes will be conducted with just those teams. Any team not receiving a bye via the special draw will be included in the regular tournament draw.
Any team that manages to qualify all three sessions will have preference over the teams that qualify twice.

Phil cant a team only qualify once. I was under the impression that the second time if I won the division, the team I beat in the final would get the nod since I was already qualified. Also say I qualify a team in the first session and then 4 stay and the other 4 create a new team. Then they win session 2 and I win session 3 now we have a tie right?

Any qualified team can re-qualify in a subsequent session by winning the playoffs or finishing first (big division). Re-qualification means all players on that roster gain originality. It also now means that team has a better chance at a bye in Regionals.
In your scenario, you split a team after qualifying in the Summer, then one of the teams wins the Fall and re-qualifies. That team can now split 4/4 AGAIN, since all eight players are original. And yes, both of the teams resulting from the second split would be considered as having qualified in Summer AND Fall, so they would both be eligible for the special bye draw.

Phil, although I see your train of thought on the subject and think it is a highly commendable achievement for any team to qualify once, let along multiple times. I would like to propose the single argument that offering such an award to such teams is somewhat discriminatory against those who are either new to the league or unable to participate year round. That's just my $0.02. |

Jay, one more thing I'd like to clarify -- when a qualified team wins the playoffs (and re-qualifies thereby all its members become "original"), the team they beat in the playoffs does not become qualified. As stated in the Local Bylaws, "the highest-ranking team (based on division standings at the end of the regular session) which is not yet qualified will become qualified. |

It's not discriminatory at all. It's a reward for those teams who have been around long enough to accomplish this highly commendable achievement not just once, but multiple times in the course of a single league year.
