As you all know by now, Monday is the 4th of July so basically, we all get screwed out of a night of league play. But wait!!! There's hope!!! Mark Jones of the Wicked Sticks and I will be hosting a pool tournament at Borderline Bar and Grill which has been gracious enough to open their doors to us on the holiday. We are hoping to play scotch doubles format. Random partner draw with alternating shots. Entry fee will be 6 bux per team, with one buk going to the house. If we don't have enough for doubles, we will do singles. Either way it will be double elimination so everyone is guaranteed two matches. Prize money will be awarded to first, second, and third place. Signups will start at 6:30 and match play will start at 7:30 sharp! As an added bonus, you can see the fireworks display at the Thousand Oaks mall from your comfy spot at the Borderline. We hope to see you all there! Bring a friend. Bring two! The more the merrier. Any questions, just email me by clicking on the link to my contact info.
Thanks and see ya there.

Torsten:

Is it safe to assume that this will be with APA skill levels? If so, I just might, pretty sure, almost definitely would like to play. Also.........8 or 9 ball?

Thanx in advance

Good Shhooting All!

Doug
First off, thank you for your post in the sportsmanship topic. I hope we get plenty more of those.
Secondly, to answer your question APA skill levels will not come into play. The format will be whiskey doubles (alternating shots) eight ball, random partner draw, race to 1, DOUBLE elimination. There is of course the chance that two high level players get randomly paired, making it extremely tough on the field. Mark and I are talking about possible solutions to that potential problem. That being said, our goal is that people from lots of different teams come out and play, have a good time, and meet new people.
That also being said, Mark and I both are more than open to any suggestions. Neither he nor I have a ton of experience hosting these things. We also just want to have a good time with our fellow APA members.
Lastly, this tournament is not limited to APA players only. Everyone PLEASE know that you all are MORE than welcome to bring friends. Lets generate some more interest in our league and grow our membership.
Hopefully, somewhere in this long-winded response lies a satisfactory answer to your question. Thanks Doug!

To all player's just one correction on the 4Th of July Tournament
$6.00 per person. And as Torsten said this is open to all people as well as APA members. Also depending on the turn out we might be running 3 tables so that means that there will be no no open table to practice on. The owner will be opening the door at 6pm so please thank "Rusty" the owner for opening his business to us for this tournament.
Thanks and hope to see you all there.

P.S. the Thousand Oaks firework show can be seen right there.

Thank you for the correction, Mark. And my apologies to everyone for my error and grievous ommission of the fireword detail. The thousand oaks fireworks show is always fun and by virtue of it's location the Borderline offers an excellent view. LETS PLAY SUM POOOOOOOOL!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who came last night. It was great fun (if a little bit inefficient!)

Thanks to Jackie and Chris B. for contributing their culinary delights.

Thanks to Rusty and the gang from Borderline for hosting us.

Big thanks to Doug Gill and Larry Nicholson for helping us adjust on the fly. (Stay off the motorcycles, Larry!)

Last but not least, thanks Mark for doin the tourney and the excellent grill work! Tri tip was awesome.

Congrats to our top three finishers, Jon Yellow Hawk, Kevin O. and Chris M. Great shooting guys... especially Kevin and Chris who both game me a merciless butt-whuppin! My ego is still sore...
