National Results

Wow people, I am speechless. I have heard of how fun it is to go to Nationals and it is everything and more by what people can tell you.

To just give you an update, Taz and Phil sent 4 teams SLOP, Tex Mex, Match Stixs, and our team Mystic Sticks. When we arrived to check in, we headed straight to the tournament rooms where we saw nearly 300 table a ton of booths a dozen Pro's and a whole lot pool players.
As the start of Tournament came Phil and Taz gave us their speech before this long week. The biggest thing as always with them is have FUN and Sportsmanship. Win loss doesn't matter. Well of course there was a little surprise which made all of opponents jealous of our teams . If you want to know what that is, make it to Nationals next year to find out.

I was impressed by all of our teams that were sent out there. Even thou we all were eliminated in the first two rounds each team showed Class and great sportsmanship. Slop and Mystic Sticks were paired side by side on the second round which gave us a chance to encourage each other. We all found a chance to find the other teams when we were not shooting so that could route them on. There was lot of talent that week and awesome shoot were made. But I was proud to be the captain of our team this week, I am happy to say a few good things happened on our team. George Lyden had a stealer profromance which he was able to produce a Break and Run patch in his match and win. BJ O'Connor then followed up with the same performance and also nail a great break and received a 8 Ball Break patch and the win. Ryan Teipel Ryan Kuske Casey Jones and Mark J all shoot awesome but just wasn't enough to get the win.
I save the best for last, Josh Barter. Wow was he on fire, his opponent keep him on this toes. but near the end Josh made a mistake while line up his shoot, Josh barely touch the cue with his stick and it was only noticeable to him, He gave her ball in hand they were shocked no knew there was foul except Josh.
At the end match their captain and whole team nominated Josh for the sportsmanship award. That made my week right there.

Well the rest week was great, Casey took two Second places in the Mini's. Mark Jones had his ass handed to him with a defeat from Alisson Fisher. Meet many Pro's that gave you great tips and encouragement though out the tournament. As well as meeting Mark Packer in house consil for the APA who wish us well for the tournament. The refs and league opporators who worked this event were awesome. Wow and they LOVE Phil and Taz who knew. Really people to hear all the crap said at the pool and card tables about their league opporators. We are lucky to have these two people who love us and work so hard give us this chance to have Fun. Thank you Phil and Taz for all you do.

APA dues = $20.00 a year
Nightly dues to play = $7.00
Play Offs = $15.00
Tournament of Champions = We get money
Regionalb = National ( HELL YEAH )
The look on Taz face when she hears one of her teams got a Sportsmanship nomination = Priceless !!!

By the way, all you teams that want to go next year. We have tasted it and we want it again. Your going to have to fight us for one of those spots next year guaranteed.

Till next Year later all
MJ

Awesome write up. Nationals is definitely an experience. My experience this time was competing in the 8 ball Scotch doubles. I proved to be too heavy a weight for my partner, too many shot selection errors. It definitely was a fun, one that I expect I will do again. Lets here some more stories of Nationals,I would very much like to see some the singles stories.

I went to Nationals 3 years ago. It was an amazing experience. The sight of all those pool tables lined up was incredible. We took our little suprise to every match and had a lot of teams asking us about them and saying they were going to tell their league operators. It made us all feel special. I actually still have mine. It is also nice that the tournament is held in Vegas. After we were out of the tournament we stayed a few more days and had a little vacation. The whole experience makes you want to go back next year.
