9 ball should be allowed to atleast go to 24 not 23, the rating system is higher than 8 ball. Just like how they do it for Southwest. 8 ball is 14 and 9 ball is 15. Just an opinion, not sure if it can be changed. The rule is used nationally right?
movistar Posted - 09/05/2010 : 09:11:26 AM
you are right... mr dragon.... there is nothing wrong with the 23 rule... it works..... just NOT in nineball...
if this was a player friendly league, it would be fair to ALL players, not just the lower rated players...It should be just as easy for a higher skill level to play as it is for a lower player....
change the rule to 25 or make the skill level go the same as in 8 ball 2-7
Moose Dragon Posted - 08/13/2010 : 07:44:32 AM
Sorry Movistar,

I don't think there is anything wrong with the 23 rule. I know all the arguements. I know it makes it difficult to field a team. I have been affected by this rule in the past and it still makes it a little difficult for me to play especially in 9-ball.

and ... now... after a word from our sponsors...
back to the 23 rule problem....

Keith

Like most people, what others think of me does matter to me. I appreciate your post and the fact that you were willing to put it out in public. More than likely you encountered me at pool in a situation where I put way too high of expectations on myself, and then couldn't live up to them. I tend to allow those frustrations to come out in the form of anger at myself. I have worked very hard on that for the last several years and have improved drastically.

Unfortunately for me change in myself is a slow process. Like I said in my rewrite of my previous post I realized half way through my email to Phil how my posting was sounding. It makes me wonder how many posts I have made that came out sounding the same way. I tell people, I am not really an Ahole I just act that way sometimes.

Again thanks for the complement, and the second chance.

Kerry,
Before I didn't have very much respect for you due to the couple times I ran into you and what you posted. I know people have their rough days and hope my impressions of you were of those days. I have kept up with most of the posts on the major forums and have to say that I have been impressed. Either you have changed or I have just seen this side in the past month or so. It's probably the latter. Even though it might not mean anything to you. I wanted to say that you have gained my respect lately. I wish you luck in your endeavors.

Everyone,
I was looking at some of my early posts recently and found it easy to misinterpret what I was saying. I just want to remind people that what you type can be taken so many different ways. It mostly depends on the mood of the reader. I have yet to find an exact way to put my tone and expression into what I type. I am assuming that you may have the same problems too.

Insert inspirational sentence here.

this is just my opinion... not that it counts.. but, I believe there needs to be a place on THIS site away from the General Discussion, to post anything a person wants to say without their comments being edited, ripped, or deleted by others just because they don't agree with what the APA feels is a un-appropriate comment....nobody is forced to read or comment on ANY post made by ANY member....freedom of speech is still alive and well, I hope (or is it)?... isn't this the way Nazi Germany started ? think about.. big brother, the gestapo, the S.S. etc who ever... needs to get out of Washington..... (or the APA) if you don't like what I just posted... lets take it outside and I will kiss your ass.... was that suppoused to be kick ? lol...have a fun day and shoot well .... keep your head down till the ball goes in the hole or I will kick your head up your...........

Phil, Taz, and now Zorro, why don't you three grow up. You are doing the same thing to Derrick that you are chastizing him about. The three of you are attacking him with not so thinly veiled comments, and insults. If you think you can act this way on a public forum just because you are the owners of it, then you need to rethink your customer service policy. If you truly don't want people airing dirty laundry, insulting each other, attacking each other, and generally acting like spoiled children, than lead by example. I know Derrick, and I know like everyone else in this world he has his faults, but I do not believe anyone deserves what the three of you have done to him and his good name. My suggestion is when you post to someone specifically keep your sharp tongue in your mouth and treat them with respect.

Before you start ripping on me I will say, I have been in the APA for some time now and yes I have had my moments that I am not proud of, but I don't believe I have ever treated anyone with so much obvious disrespect.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I am rewriting this post. I am going to leave the original on as well. I believe when a person realizes they have made a mistake they should take responsibility and not hide from it. I could just delete it or write over it but then my awakening would not make as much sense and that would be the cowards way out.

Phil responded to me via email. I explained to him my position in much more detail. I did error when I said they were chastising Derrick for attacking others in his posts. At no point did they do that. What I should have posted was: I feet as if Phil, and Taz are posting things that they have chastised people for in the past. These posts were starting to bother me and I felt the need to say something. In hindsight, and I realized this about half way thru my email to Phil that I had done the same thing. I was taking my turn to attack and or insult Phil, Taz, and Zorro. My reaction should have been in an email, phone call, or face to face conversation with Phil and or Taz. These are my opinions and I know not everyone will share them. I just wish I would have realized before posting that they should have been done in a more personal venue. I do regret some of the things I wrote and how I wrote them. However, I do stand behind the basics of my post. We all should remember that our words do affect others and are not always interpreted in the way we intend them to be.

If anyone wants to respond to this and tell me what you think (good or bad), feel free to email me at bowlingguy800@hotmail.com.

Mr. Rack,

Do you think that the LO has nothing better to do then to be at ur Beck and Call? O wait, that's right: BABYSIT... Remember we pay them right? TO PLAY POOL not to deal w the "little things" that happen almost every night of play somewhere. I say "little things" because if this person was going to kick ur butt,it would have been done. I respect the fact that u did not fight, after the insult and the shove... It takes a big man to walk away... But even a BIGGER one not to "BITCH" about it to everyone.

A part from Wikipedia for Insult:

Though a popular idiom refers to "adding insult to injury", in a medical context, they are one and the same: physicians examine injuries resulting from an insult to flesh and bones, caused by various traumatic events. In speech and in social settings, insults are words which tend to injure or damage the psyche. In humor, insults may be exchanged in much the same way as fighters exchange blows in training, to develop a resistance to the pain of mild injuries, or to spar with no real intention of causing any serious injury.

Hey I know what we can do... We can get everybody together that wants or has wanted to kick someones ass. Have everyone sign waivers, rent out a boxing ring, put on the gloves, ring the bell and come out swinging. We can sell tickets to the "APA I'm gonna kick ur ass boxing match" I bet we could even hold it at the Arena.

As far as ur quote: "Either 1 of 2 things are gonna happen, He will get his wish and try to fight me....or he will be allowed to stay in the league and I will therefore resign and take any and every person I know with me."

Gave u an answer for 1 now 2: Don't threaten us with a good time. LOL I know u and I'm staying here along w a lot of other people we know.

With that said I bid u n ur family good day...

You would have received that information in your Monday night team envelope (Aug. 2), as the BOG met on July 31, which you would know if you bothered to read the previous posts on this thread (with an attempt to understand what you read); however, the league office was advised that you were on a family vacation and would not be at league this week and therefore I chose not to send out the information since you wouldn't be there to receive it and it could get lost or taken by someone else, in which case you would claim you never got it and this whole thing would once again get blown out of proportion as you like to do.

You can anticipate receiving it next week. If that's not quick enough for you, that's just TOOOOO DARNNNNN BADDDDD!
D-RACK Posted - 08/04/2010 : 11:05:36 PM
So after weeks is there ruling? ................. wait thats right the BOG meeting isn't till OCTOBER? So remember the system works just takes forever....

My question is this :

If a incident happens in the APA on a League night forms sent to BOTH teams requesting explanation of facts. Why cant the LO hand down a punishment or a ruling why wait and afford that member the right to continually make playing in the APA miserable?

Shouldn't the teams that filled out the paperwork be afforded an explanation on the ruling?

I will wait for a reply stating some BULL**** from someone!

Moose Dragon Posted - 08/02/2010 : 07:45:33 AM
Taz,

Since as you mention Pam was elected President of the BOG at the last meeting there was no way for anyone to know that. I think maybe an introduction in her post would have explained her position. Even letting everyone know that she was posting for the BOG might have made people listen a little closer. That was my point to begin with. If you don't know Pam is the President of the BOG, or even a BOG member, than she just looks like another interested pary.

Again, the reason I asked the "tell us who you are" bit is because her post read as if she was in authority, but I could not tell what authority. I did not disagree with Pam in any way. I found her post to be very well written and informative. It should clear up any questions people have about the disciplinary process the APA uses. I was not trying to stir up the pot or cause controversy. I was just trying to help. Again, maybe my wording was wrong but my intent was good.

Some do, some don't. I know San Diego has one (sdapa.com) that's like ours for the most part. There used to be a page at poolplayers.com that had links to other league area websites, but it got hard to maintain so they took those links off the page. However, you can bop around on the locator map there and find sites for other areas. Some have message boards, some do not.
