Posted - 03/16/2011 : 10:43:57 AM I play 8 ball out of a location that has become unbearable for our team and others to play decent pool and have fun. we have found a NEW place to play, but the league operators REFUSE to let us move. not really sure why ! (what if the bar closed, then what) a simple phone call to the opponent on our HOME night could indicate the NEW location. Another team already plays there so EVERYBODY knows where it is. Has anybody else had this problem and what can we do ? as far as the computer is concerned... just "HIGHLIGHT the existing location and TYPE in the NEW location.... just telling us to "suck it up"..will not work ......thanks

Posted - 03/22/2011 : 3:36:13 PM Hey Derrick,
I went to a 7 briefly but could not hold it. I am pretty close again. Both of my teams are in the Vegas qualifying tournament. I would love to get back to Vegas again, that was too much fun.

Posted - 03/21/2011 : 08:16:59 AM Movistar,
I was just trying to help you out and give you a little advise, Besides I thought you had nothing more to say? I GUESS YOU DID AFTER ALL. You are right, you have done no wrong here, you have had no attitude, and have only tried to help solve a situation. You must be right you have said it over and over in this thread so that must make it right. Stick with that it seems to be working for you.

Posted - 03/19/2011 : 3:33:17 PM dear Moose.. I NEVER realized that THANKING somebody for READING a post would be construed as "Having an Attitude" or being SNOTTY as you put it in my initial post. I ALSO re-read my initial post and there was NOTHING in it that copped an attitude... I merely made a statement and asked a question, and made a suggestion as to how the situation could be accomplished... and I ALWAYS thank people for their comments and I am sincerely glad that people comment because it shows me that people are thinking, and have opinions some that agree with me and some that don't. I acknowledge the fact that Phil and Taz have a tremendous amount of work to do and have NEVER said they do a BAD job. and THANK YOU for your comment.... |

Posted - 03/19/2011 : 11:58:51 AM I would like to elaborate a little on what Derrick wrote, if not only because I am at work on a Saturday and it is slow as all get out.
I played in the Southcoast APA for about 5 years. God and some of you know I have not always seen eye to eye with Phil and Taz. However, since I have moved up North and play in the Spokane Washington area I have come to appreciate the things that Phil and Taz do. We have virtually no website. We have no singles qualifiers that I know of. We have no pictures of our events. We have very little interaction with the LOs up here at all. So you may not like some of what your LOs do, say, or their decisions, but you need to understand that they go above and beyond the required most of the time. Appreciate what you have while you have it.
Movistar, I feel your pain. I have played in some really bad bars, and on really crappy tables before. Fortunately we were able to find a new home before the next season started.
After I posted this responce I saw Movistar's last post and have to say that you probably don't want to alienate everyone that read this post and didn't respond. You don't know whay each of those people did not respond and really have no right to critisize them. That post itself shows your attitude and proves that you were at best being snotty with your first post.
For those of you that think I might be kissing a little butt here are wrong. I have no real reason to me a booty smoocher since I no longer play in your area. I just voice my opinion when I feel like I can either help or stir things up.

Posted - 03/19/2011 : 09:26:08 AM I would like to thank the, over 230 people who read this post and thank the 5 who responded with their thoughts... I have no apologies to make and my attitude is only one of trying to make things right...... I have nothing more to say... have a good day |

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 7:06:22 PM I ALMOST agree with Derrick... but he got the football team part wrong ;-)
Seriously, we don't need anyone kissing up on this message board. What we DO need is people to be respectful. I posted the "able to read" comment for the sole purpose of demonstrating that a person's words and a person's agenda can be two different things entirely.
Gary's agenda in this thread is to try to use a public forum to get his way, and the tone of his initial post was quite disrespectful, painting us as ogres who REFUSED to do something so obviously SIMPLE, with nary a reason. In that regard he is out of line. Others have done that before, and met with similar results. To borrow his words, a SIMPLE phone call would have gotten his question answered, if that's what he really wanted.
Here are a few things that haven't been mentioned about this topic. First, this isn't the first team that has asked to change locations this session. There have been at least five prior. Heck, this isn't even the first team in THAT DIVISION that has asked. Suppose we were to let them move, what do we say to the other team who asked weeks ago? Without some extreme special circumstances, the answer is always no.
The location in question has lost several teams over the past couple of sessions. Those teams ALL moved at the beginning of a new session. Gary's team chose to stay there this session when other teams in THAT DIVISION were going elsewhere.
Not one person made a single complaint about that location this session, until Gary's captain called and asked to move. Gary's team is not the only team hosted by that location. There are three others, two of which play in THAT DIVISION. Not one complaint.
Gary keeps mentioning that it is our job to make the teams happy. We learned long ago that every time we make a call we make somebody happy and somebody else unhappy. In this case, the unhappy party would be a location and the people who work there who have no chance to replace the enormous amount of business they lose because WE (not the team, the league) took a team from them mid-session. They don't consider what they might have been able to do to keep the team, they blame the league. We try to do what's best for the league, and alienating host locations is not good for the league at all.

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 4:05:32 PM Here goes nothing........
It has come to my attention that however so mild that it may be this is a APA message board. I feel that the opinions of the players who post here weather good or bad, are strongly criticized.
Movistar...first I don't know u so with that being said it hard to interpret "Attitude" when u post so i have been on both sides of the WRATH of the LO. It can feel intimidating with everyone kissing their ass or not arguing to your side... there is only one one true statement with BLOGS and Messageboards you can state your free opinion no matter what, as long as u don't attack a person directly. Now with that being said .....I don't know your situation with the whole I wanna move thing......But according to the way I Read it (And I can Read...lol) your correct the LO could of over ruled and changed things. Whats evolved in that once again I don't know so maybe they way that discussion against the request of moving your host location. Maybe not .....
13 years in the APA under Taz and Phil, I consider them well above avg business owners in the successful creation of the SouthCoast APA. If you have ever played outside SC APA you might understand that we get better then most ( For the rest of you LO out there I aint bagging on you).......
My Opinions of Phil Personally he has poor taste in Football teams lol....jk Phil GO BRONCOS!
Moviestar weather we like the way the run it or not kinda sucks because no matter what happens there will always be a "Decision" we don't like. You cant please all the people all the time.
If there was a alternative that your looking for try taking off from pool take a step back see if it is really as important as u think. Put together a few new options on how you suggest a busniess should be run and submit them to Phil personally ...
trust me when I saw i have been on the bad end of some discussions with them.....but business is business....try not to take it personally....
Now with that being said..............
Thorsten - Very well put agreed with 95% of your post so the 5% ok
Bikercowboy - wow dude seriously all you go is through GAS on the fire.... but thats my opinion. nothing personal...
Phil - 50% good 50% bad... i can see where moviestar took it personal about the reading thing..i would of too.... u didn't specially say him but the way it read was pretty f@#ked up but after u make your point in a later post i see what u were saying
And now for my closing thought i will refer to my faveriote quote of all time
Getttttttterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Donee!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lmao
Smile people be happy we have a place to bitch and gripe ....... even if you don't like the answers don't bitch!!! lol Phil please create a new blog form "BITCH AND GRIPE ALL U WANT HERE!!!" this way we can say we have a place to gripe LOL

Oh, golly, gee whiz, I didn't say YOU don't know how to read. Certainly you can read, and certainly you would agree with me that being able to read can be useful. So, you have a problem with me speaking THE TRUTH?

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 2:11:11 PM mr bikercowboy... I really don't think that if "given special treatment" as you put it, would cause the entire league to make a mass transfer mid season to another location. we made a legitimate request and were turned down. as for your team wanting to move.. I really don't care.. I hope you are able to move because... your moving won't affect me. as our moving wouldn't affect you.
our "unique situation" as you put it.... is that , for a LONG time we have complained about the NOISE (music) level in the establishment and nothing has been done, as if they don't care. when it becomes a HEALTH issue (loss of hearing) I am NOT saying this lightly.... I consider that a problem... not to mention the OTHER problems that are not mentioned here. like you read in my other post, according to the wording of the rule #21 the LO could make the approval, IF they wanted to. AS for Phil and Taz giving us "special treatment" , I wouldn't consider it "special treatment" because it is their JOB to work with their teams, and try and make everybody happy. I know they have a huge job running the league, but, there are times when common sense should prevail..... have a good day... thank you for your reply
nothing personal was written in this post....

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 1:22:17 PM What makes your situation unique? From what I have read the problem has been ongoing. You were given the same answer as any other team would get. I actually point out that my team got the same answer. Phil and Taz should give your team special treatment? Why?
Isn't the object to make the object ball? But yes you are right the leave would be awesome if it was your shot. |

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 12:28:22 PM I read the manual... page 30 quote... #21. Teams may not change Home Locations during a session unless. 1) the Location closes 2) the Location Request it 3) the League Operator approves it.
our situation falls under #3. we made a request WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN APPROVED, but the LO would NOT approve it , thus refusing our request. NO attacks were made during this post.. only the TRUTH was stated. thank you have a great weekend |

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 08:50:47 AM quote: Originally posted by movistar I really expected a little more player friendly cooperation to relieve our problem... IN MY OLD AGE, I SEEM TO BE A LITTLE MORE OUTSPOKEN than my captain... he did tell me what you told him, but I really didn't understand what the "Policy " was and felt like anything can be done if people try ! I don't find the "policy" in the rule book, could you please post it here? is this "policy" an APA rule or just SouthCoast ?
Team Manual, page 30, near the top. Being ABLE to READ might be useful.

Posted - 03/18/2011 : 07:15:14 AM Hey Thorston.. thanks for the reply... greener pastures are on the horizon.... and I am not really blaming phil and taz for anything except possibly not being able to be flexible with their "policy" ,,,,and we are going to "tough it out" cause our team loves to play pool... have a good weekend... |
