Other than our 8-Ball SL 4-5 (which will have their own local National Qualifier on Sat. February 20), all singles qualified players have advanced to a "standard" singles regional. Our players will compete along with players from Riverside and San Bernardino, on March 6 & 7 for the coveted prize - the right to advance to the National Singles Tournament and a shot at the National Singles Title.
8-Ball participants - registration will begin at 8:00am on Saturday, March 6. Players' meeting at 9:00am. First round will start immediately after the meeting.
9-Ball participants - registration will begin at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 6. Players' meeting at 4:00pm. First round will start immediately after the meeting.
ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE VALID PHOTO ID AND SKILL LEVEL CERTIFICATION STATEMENT IN ORDER TO REGISTER
Information packet (including SL certification statement) will be mailed out from the National Office to your home address the first week of February. If you have not received your mailing by February 20, please be sure to let us know.
Oops! Almost forgot to tell you where...
Arena Sports Grill & Bar! Yeap, that's right, here in Simi Valley. We have been asked to host one of four singles regional events taking place in California, so you will be participating in your own back yard (okay, okay, enough with the applause). |

Posted - 03/12/2010 : 7:04:46 PM The number who go to Nationals is also very dependent on the number who play on qualifier boards. In 2009, participation in the singles program was way down. There were times when we scheduled qualifiers, only to sit at the bar for three hours because we couldn't get four people to show up.
50 South Coast players won and paid for a singles board in 2009. Two years ago, it was 220. That year, we sent 13 players to Nationals (6%). This year we're sending 4 (8%). On average, one in 16 who qualify for regionals makes it to Nationals. That's 6.25%, so this year we're actually better than average. It's just that the numbers were way down.
A big part of that is the economy. We run guaranteed qualifiers, where the winner pays the entire fee for the board, and a lot of people just couldn't afford that $100. When the economy turns around, we expect the numbers to go back up.

Posted - 03/12/2010 : 11:33:33 AM I asked the question several post back about how many singles go to nationals for a reason... after doing some research. it appears that FEWER than one percent of the players in the southcoast apa get to go to the nationals in vegas. doesn't this seem like a VERY unfair amount considering the number of players in the southcoast apa? |

Posted - 03/08/2010 : 2:34:59 PM Her name was Traci(the 3 who spanked me) and she was a sweetie, but the most amazing 3 I've ever seen. Her game was 100% on, with shape. By the time I turned my pool game on I was hiding behind another ball...hehehe. I had a great time, but hated playing my best friend Ann in the quarter-finals.
That's the way it goes. Thanks for an awesome weekend of pool. Stephanie Adrian |

Posted - 02/18/2010 : 11:12:52 AM Thanks..so if I read this correctly, periodically there are "singles boards" which are basically qualifier type events. We pay $15 and if we qualify on the "singles boards" then we get invited to the upcoming tourneys.
Guess now that I have 10 matches under my belt in both 8 and 9, I'll keep my eye open for future Singles Boards. |
