After watching the baseball all-star game last night and noticing how much fun the players seemed to be having (at least from the winning team), I started thinking that doing something similar in the APA might be fun.
Here are some ideas regarding this, and if anyone cares to share their opinions and ideas, please do so
1) The overall idea would be to have an all-star game once a year with teams from either different divisions or different areas. One all-star team would be chosen from each division or area.
2) The all-star team from each division/area could be chosen similarly to how baseball all-star teams are chosen. Each team captain in a divison/area could elect two players from other teams in his division/area, one player SL 2 - 4, and one player SL 5 - 7, and could not elect a person from his own team. This list of elected players could then be presented to all active APA players in that division/area to vote on.
3) Also, each team captain in a division/area could nominate one captain (not himself) to be the captain of the all-star team. The captain with the most votes would be the all-star captain. Of course, the elected captain should be able to decline the election, if he/she wants.
4) There should be some incentive for the league operators to invest the time and energy into getting something like this going... Money?

Aren't the MVP's already the All-Stars? The simplest way to do what you are suggesting would be to have teams of 3, the MVP's from each tier, and first to win two of three, continues on.
However, throwing another event into the mix may be cumbersome for the players, the leagues, and the operators.
Could be fun though! And, if it went national, that would be really cool. |
