I beat a 5 last week and they dropped that player to a four. If I beat
them as a 5 then why do I only get 4 MVP points?

Your best bet is to email Phil. I apparently thought I had beat a 5 at the beginning of this season and was only given 4 points for it. Apparently, the guy had dropped to a 4 well before we played. He thought he was a 5 too.

I contaced Phil and he told me that my opponent became a 4 at the end of the last season.

Long story short, contact Phil.

If I disagree with you, it is because I am right.

From my experience you still get 5 mvp points. This is unless it was their first match. If it was their first match then you get mvp points equal to their new rating. This part does not seem to apply since they were a 5 when you played them.

My dad played a 5 that dropped down to a 3 because of their match and 5 mvp points were awarded. It was that persons second match in league. Another time I played a 4 that dropped down to a 2 and was awarded 2 mvp points. It was that persons first match in that format. He had played something like 6 matches in the other format and was a 3. I played him cas he was on my team in the other format. Well that and at the time I had a powerhouse 6 who later went up to an 8 to take on their high player. Lets just say he listened to what I had to say during the timeouts in the other format from then on.

If its a new player in the APA you will only get four points. If he or she is a 6 or 2 this way it stays universal. Best Guess..... Happened to me last year.

This was an established player and their skill level was a 5 all season and last season. I guess I will have to contact Phil because I only received 4 points.

I was under the impression that there were other factors to determine the points one receives. I am interested to know exactly how it is determined also.

I am REALLY glad you brought up the topic of skill level and POINTS!!!
this is a perfect argument for changing the "system" to ... each player who wins should receive ONE point for the victory, period... this would even the playing field for ALL players and you wouldn't have to worry about what skill level player you play. you win 10 matches durning a season and you receive 10 points. keep the skill level to figure the handicap but change the award points to ONE for each victory.
if your friend plays a 7 and wins, he gets 7 points.... if you win and play a 2 you only get 2 points... this is NOT fair....let's change it to ONE point for each win...thanks for reading

movistar... Just because someone asked the question about how many points someone will or should receive does not mean that you should bring up that crap. The forum for that is the topic that was about the mvp system. If you think it is flawed then go back and revive that topic. This is like the difference between a timeout and asking about the rules during your match.

my comment was NOT meant to piss people off.... seems like I touched on some nerves....My reply was VERY relevant to the thread posted... mr Adam was concerned about how many points he was getting and my suggestion was a SOLUTION to his problem.... ONE point for the win... and the POINTS directly affects the MVP system...thank you ALL for your responses.....and YES you have heard this before.... why does this league NOT like to make changes??????
"Bringing up CRAP" ..."Same OLD Trash".... "Heard this before".....I was not directing any of my replys at anyone in particular.... if it affects someone... then there must be a guilty party somewhere....
and I do have a very good life.... I was put here to piss people off...lol
and one note... NOBODY has to read my post... it is a choice
have a great day and shoot well....god loves you and so do I.

Oh, I wouldn't say we don't like to make changes. We don't like to make changes for the sake of making changes. The only thing your proposal solves is the question of how many MVP points you get. It doesn't solve all MVP questions. No MVP system will. No MVP system in any sport will.

I won't rehash the discussion from the earlier thread(s) on this topic. Everyone who wants can go back and read them. Suffice it to say that the arguments against your proposal are contained in some of those threads.

Propose an MVP system with no flaws and we'll change. Until then, we won't replace one flawed system with another flawed system.

BTW - neither Keith nor D-Rack was correct about the points you receive for beating a new player. The first person who correctly answers that question (completely) will earn the title of Best Informed South Coast APA Member (BI SCAM for short).

I'm nit-picking, I know, but the word is "drivel". Dribble is what you do when you play basketball, or can't drink from a cup, or have a cold and no tissue.

My second guess would be that Torsten did not reply on this topic and that you meant D. A. instead.

Would the answer be that you get what their skill level was when you played them and that people make mistakes.

Hey Keith, after reading your many post and just having a buddy in Panama send me a couple of emails, I thought I would share a few passages.
The quotes are from Wylie Post who died in an a plane crash in 1935 along with Will Rogers. He was probably the greatest Political Sage this country has ever known.
After you read them I hope you will have a good laugh as I did.

"If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by
reading. The few who learn by observation. The
rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out
for themselves.

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he
started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along
and shot him. The moral:
When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut. "

As I said , hope you had a good laugh on me.
'

Depends on sex (and not if you had some before or after the match)

You receive 4 point for beating a man new to APA in their first match
You receive 3 point for beating a woman new to APA in their first match

After the first match, the player's rating can change and the number of points one receives for beating this player is equivalent to the players rating.

If I disagree with you, it is because I am right.
