so phil and taz did you REALLY have to raise the skill level on 4 out of 7 of my players in one week???? OUCH! that was very mean! OK so perhaps we all deserve our new skill levels (ive been ready to go up for a while) and yes 2 of them dont have 10 matches yet so their sl are volatile. but more than half of my team went up! dont worry im not really upset, just a little worried i wont be able to find a lower player to help me field a team. i really did think when i started this season that we would have room to grow but here it is the second week and already im too top heavy! i guess thats what i get for having such dedicated pool players. all of us are determined to improve. so it makes it tough to keep a team together. i love the league and the way you two run it so there is no need to yell at me. but you both know me and how i love to complain about how good things are!
ok so i might be a 7 |

Look at the bright side, Ed. Your team is in first place!
Four in one week is pretty rare, but it happens, especially when you put a 76-24 whoopin' on your opponent. But you can still field a team, it's just that you can only play one of your three senior skill level players.

Your 7 is simply converted from your 9-Ball skill level, so don't go getting all big-headed...

Yeah, that was sarcasm, lol. Im ranked at the best at 8 ball because I am not ranked the best in 9 ball? right? Help me understand, thats all I need, understanding of how that works. Then I will be ok. See , to me, 8 ball is a much tougher game, at least compared to 9 ball in the APA format. I seek understanding.... Thats all. Thanks.

I guess its just weird to me because there is sl 9 in 9 ball, and only 7 in 8 ball. I know I can play, but I just watched a seasoned 6 (meaning more than 100 APA matches) that I would have a tough time beating heads up...theres a few out there. Thats where im coming from. Hell, I know guys working real hard to be a 7. It is what it is I guess.Whatever , rack em.

dont worry jeff im kina with ya. i WAS a (for a full season) a 7 in 8 ball (top of the heap) and a 6 in 9 ball (middle of the road) and i have to give weight to a few people better than i am. its ok tho its all fun. and now im a 7 in both. makes a little more sense but i think it really should be 8s and 9s are 7s in 8. boy thats confusing!
phil like i said im not REALLY complaining i am just proud of my team for being so dedicated to getting better. they all show up early for warmup and play on extra days for practice. there is not a chance that they will not go up with that attitude. trouble is i wont be able to keep the same team for very long. and by the time we get to regionals or nationals we will all be too highly rated to field the team. but personally i would rather everyone progress than worry about fielding a team in the future. such is life
ok so i might be a 7 |

Ed, you have a great game. How long did it take for you to get to a 7? Took me 19 matches. Just seems a bit fast doesnt it?. But in all honesty, and fairness aside, I should be thanking them for this challenge, Im now working alot harder at my game to be able to compete as a 7. Look out Johnny Archer!! LOL! BTW Congatulations to Johnny Archer and Allison Fisher for the induction to BCA hall of fame!!! awesome!!! well earned, and overdue!!!

It's pretty simple. It's a straight conversion, number for number. Since there are no buckets for 1, 8, and 9 in 8-Ball those players have to go into the lowest and highest 8-Ball buckets, respectively. Over time, the converted scores go away and your skill level is calculated from the matches you actually play in that format.

well jeff you are in my estimation a bit better than me maybe not by much but enough to where i will have to be on my game to beat you. and you also got raised to a 7 much quicker than I. it took me about 2 and a half seasons to go from a 6 to a 7 in 8 ball, and another 6 months for 9 ball. to be truthful i was expecting it to happen the other way around and was not ready for the raise in 8. i am however fine with the 9ball sl raise, and have been expecting it for a while. JUST NOT 4 OUT OF 7 OF MY PLAYERS IN ONE WEEK!!!! thanks alot PHIL!!! its ALL your fault! ok maybe not.

Hi guys! Both of you, quit yer griping! Eddie, you get in your own head a little bit. Remember, you're not playing your opponent, you're playing the game. You play it better than most (hence your skill level being the top achievable 8 ball rank) and ought to have faith in that. If you wouldn't have decided before our match even started that I was gonna give you a whuppin, you might very well have given me one. :)
And Jeff, I'm still bitter about the thumping you gave me last season. I will have my revenge. In 8 ball or in 9. (that was a reference to gladiator. I'll have my vengeance, in this life or the next. get it?) Anyhoo, see you guys on the table. :)
