This week I took the opportunity to check our opponents scoresheets to see if ours matched up (don't have to be exactly right I know) with theirs. The most GLARING difference was the number of defensive shots recorded. Does anyone really mark defensive shots? In almost every instance that I checked the opponents scoresheets had almost NO defensive shots recorded, whereas ours had at least 4-10 in every match. What happens when this occurs? Do League Operators make adjustments or ????. I know that these shots are part of the equation for SL evaluation, but when one team has score sheets with lots of them recorded and the opponents have almost none, I wondered what happens when statistics are entered into the computer.

Over the years we get a feel for who is conscientious about marking defense, who is not, and who has a tendency to pencil-whip players who happen to play well against them. We use this information to make an educated guess on how many defensive shots to put in. 95% of the time it makes no difference at all, but if nobody marks defense, it means 5% of the people in the league would be improperly rated.
